Introduction

All American Academy is an educational institution established by a group of dedicated educators. The main purpose of this school is to serve the community and to provide quality education of Chinese language to all children.

The institution is composed of excellent faculty and staff. In the department of administration, the principal, Anita Sheu, owns an Associate Professorship from Chinese Culture University in Taiwan and has been involved with Chinese education for almost twenty years. Her strength lies in the theory as well as the hands-on application of Chinese education. Two vice principals, Kelly Kuo and Hester Su, are excellent educators in the field of Chinese language. Ms. Kuo is known to excel in the fields of classroom management and teaching strategy. Ms. Su is an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who is known for her talent in creating school curriculum material, which has earned an award recently in Taiwan from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission. Among the faculty, various teachers have been honored and recognized by the Southern California Council of Chinese Schools for their achievements in Chinese education. They have actively pursued further training by regularly attending educational seminars and are also often invited to be speakers for these seminars. In addition, these teachers possess rich experience in classroom management and creative teaching strategies. Most importantly, they love to teach. Of special note, Mrs. Chun-Chu Liu, a well known Chinese language educator in Southern California, is a member of the faculty. She has experience in training students for contests in the fields of public speaking, Chinese calligraphy, and Chinese handwriting . Her students often perform well and receive awards in these contests. Mrs. Liu also holds the titles of Coordinator of Extra-Curricular Activities and Chairperson of Committee of Personnel. Mrs. Chi-Hua Wu is another excellent faculty on our staff. She graduated from Tankang University in Taiwan and previously was the principal of Chou-Yuan Kindergarten. Currently she is our Adminitrative Secretary in addition to being the Chairperson of Committee of Teacher Welfare. Mrs. Grace Kiang is our current Chairperson of Committee of Educational Research and Development. She obtained her Master's degree in Japan. In addition to teaching language in Mt. San Antonio College, she also holds the title of Chief of Department of Counseling in our school. Mrs. Shu-Fen Chen is another experienced teacher who owns a Doctoral degree (Ed.D) from Pepperdine University.

With regards to the curriculum material, our consultants and teachers have cooperated to create a two-part educational material: 1) Step-by-Step to Chinese, and 2) Supplementary Material. It is our expectation that by using this well-planned educational material, the faculty can provide various creative ways of teaching Chinese and at the same time can enhance students' self-motivation and learning skills. Finally, there is always flexibility in the curriculum and in the learning experience provided to the students. Teachers retain their own creative space to work with the students, and in that sense, both teaching and learning can become an art. This two-part educational material has received award this year from Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission. Our school is the only one in Southern California to receive such an honor.

We are dedicated to help every child in All American Academy to succeed in their pursuit of learning the Chinese language. With our excellent staff, enthusiasm in teaching, and our caring for the students, we expect to lead our students into the new millennium and help them in achieving success with the Chinese language.
